Hey everyone… Jonathan Moody back again for another article. Once again sorry its taking so long. Just so much going on but I made myself do this and will hopefully have a couple more ready soon. In this episode John Ward got to pick the movie to do a review for and he picked a movie he really liked (Surprise! Surprise! Seems to be everyone’s go to). I brought Taylor Kilgore back since they were buds and actually worked together. Figured that would be an interesting episode. And it was. The movie is, “Let us Prey”… and here’s what its about:
According to IMDB: Rookie Cop Rachel is about to begin her first night-shift in a neglected police station in a Scottish backwater town— the kind of place where the tide has gone out and stranded a motley bunch of the aimless, the forgotten, anthem bitter, and the twisted who all think that they really deserve to be somewhere else. They all think they’re there by accident and that, with luck, life, will get better. Wrong on both counts. Six is about to arrive— and all hell will break loose.

The film is directed by Brian O’Malley who directed The Lodgers and episodes of That Dirty Black Bag, The Ex-Wife, and Alex Rider. The film was written by Fiona Watson, who’s only other script is for an episode of Twisted Tales; David Cairns who wrote Natan and Who is Bill Rebane?, as well as additional writing by Brian O’Malley himself.
The film stars Liam Cunningham as Six: Six is the instigator of the whole thing -and the scariest of the bunch. Throughout the film you’re not exactly sure who or what he is. You just know you don’t want him loose. Liam was Davos Seaworth in Game of Thrones, he was also in The Vault, and most recently in the Last Voyager of the Demeter. Also starring Pollyanna McIntosh as PC. Rachel Higgins. Pollyanna has been in the Walking Dead, She was the Woman in The Woman, and Metatron in the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. Bryan Larkin plays PC Jack Warnock; Bryan was in Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, I am Vengeance, and Chasing the Dragon. Hannah Stanbridge plays PC Jennifer Mundie; Hannah was in the movie Ladybaby, the TV series River City, and the movie Christmas Hear Kids.

I really don’t want to give much a way because there are a ton of twists in this movie. All the twists I didn’t see coming in one way or another and it was one of the movies that really kept you on your toes. I dug seeing that considering most independently made horror or action films these days are very easy to see coming. I usually know the ending before it’s even begun. This movie on the other hand kept me at the edge of my seat and guessing each time. John, Taylor, and I were really impressed. It’s not usual you get a movie like this – especially not for Indie Film Cafe. Which I guess is a good thing that John ended up picking it for the movie. Once again I don’t want to ruin your movie going experience if you haven’t seen it. But if you just want to hear what we had to say about it understand there are spoilers. I’d go in blind and watch it first and then go back and listen to us jibber-jabber about it.

Well the scores are in: John Ward of course gave it a 1. Like I said before he picked it because he loved it. I gave it a 2. And I was actually expecting Taylor to give it in the range but she ended up giving it a 5. She felt like she was a bit confused through out the film especially with the religious aspect and John and I totally get that. But that gave the score a stink total of 8. Which puts that up with A Better Place, Jesus Christ Vampire Hunter, Hey Stop Stabbing Me, and Arcade. Not a bad group to be in with.

Okay… so that wraps up another write up from me. Next will be one of Paul’s and then I think it’ll be back to being me again. Oh boy! Anyhoo… here is the MooCow himself to let you all know where you can find this flick. Take it away MooCow….
